On Friday, 10th June 2022, the renovated National Museum of Ghana was officially re-opened by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Originally inaugurated in 1957, the same year Ghana gained independence, the museum is the oldest and largest museum in the country. It was closed to the public in 2015 to undergo extensive renovations aimed at restoring its structure and modernizing its exhibits.
