Aburi Botanical Gardens, located approximately 30 kilometres north of Accra in Aburi, Ghana, is a serene haven for nature enthusiasts. Established in 1890, the gardens span 160 acres and showcase a diverse collection of tropical flora. Nestled in the scenic Akwapim Hills in the Eastern Region, the gardens are a serene and historic sanctuary offering breathtaking landscapes, rich biodiversity, and cultural significance.
The gardens were originally developed as a sanatorium for convalescing colonial officials before being transformed into one of Ghana's most iconic botanical destinations. Private transport collects you from your Accra hotel, apartment, or airport and handles the full round trip, climbing into the cool Akwapim Hills along the way. Garden entry, a private live guide, and breakfast are managed by Venue Tours Group. This is a half-day visit best paired with comfortable walking shoes.
